Patricia Diaz Dennis was appointed to a six-year term on The Texas State University System Board of Regents by Governor George W. Bush in March 1999.

Mrs. Diaz Dennis is the senior vice president and general counsel for SBC Pacific Bell/SBC Nevada Bell. Before joining SBC, Dennis was special counsel to Sullivan & Cromwell in the law firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Appointed by President Reagan, she served on the National Labor Relations Board from 1983-86 and as commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission from 1986-89. President Bush appointed her assistant secretary for human rights and humanitarian affairs at the U.S. Department of State where she served from 1992-1993. Mrs. Diaz Dennis serves on the boards of directors of the Citadel Communications Corporation, National Public Radio and Mass Mutual/The Blue Chip Company. She is also a trustee of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and of the San Antonio chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Mrs. Diaz Dennis earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and her law degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles School of Law.
